Fishing Report May 24th, 2018

The heat is picking up and North Shore streams are getting low and clear so wade with caution. Rain is needed!!  Stonefly’s and small nymphs, such as Flash Backs, PT’s and Princes, are working good with soft hackles as the back up. On the upper Wisconsin Brule, Sulphurs, Light Hendricksons in the slow stuff around Cedar Island! Nymphs in fast areas such as the landings below Cedar Island. The lower Brule will have some resident trout hanging out with some late Steelhead. Go after them with Prince Nymphs and Soft Hackles and streamers.  The warm water fly fishing is great with Smallmouth and Largemouth heading up to spawning areas with lake and river temps climbing up. Head them off around shallows and drop offs. Top water is the best when weather permits this calls for Hwy 53’s, Bad Ass Frogs and Fat Mama’s and Boogle Bugs.  But when getting down is the preferred method throw strip leech patterns and deep diving jigs such as Meat whistles and Black Strippers. Crawfish work best in late evenings. Cheers!!
